This is so typical of my life. I realised last night, after deciding that I would just go to bed rather than gather strips, that I had completely forgotten about my lace sleeve flounces. My to-do list for tonight is daunting, especially because I'm jetlagged so it feels about 5 hours later to me than it actually is! I have adjusted the top of the petticoat for the hoops, but I still have to pleat it, sew it to a waistband, make flounces and trim (and sew them on too!). I'm currently stuck in Cardiff. I brought along my unadorned stomacher and several long strips of fabric with gathering stitches along both edges (which I put about half an hour before I left for the airport >.> ) and I managed to gather them and sew them on within a couple of days of arriving, much to my surprise. Oh God.

Because I cannot make myself start the trim. That, and hemming, is basically all that's left. And a petticoat, but I have an untrimmed (unhemmed) grey petticoat already together, so if I haaave to I can wear that, rather than make up a matching petticoat, and trim it. I'm fitting - or trying to fit! - my pink sacque, and there are these waist wrinkles. I have no idea how to get rid of them. I've tried adjusting the dart(s) in the front. I've tried moving the side seams forward and back, and their present location seems to cause the least wrinkliness so far. Is there something to be done? Do I need a dart? Or are ( Read more... )

I did a bit of sewing on my sacque today - the side seams on the skirt, and basted the skirt pleats to the lining, but I dursn't go any further without someone actually helping me fit it.
